• Winner is determined by games won, with tiebreakers: points allowed, then points off loaners

• Teams police each other while our utility and bar staff keep time and collect scorecards
• We provide the decks with unnecessary cards removed, so just bring your partner
How to Play Euchre
The Basics:
• Players: 4 players in 2 teams of 2
• Deck: 24 cards (9, 10, J, Q, K, A in each suit)
• Trump ranking: the Jack of the trump suit is the highest card (the right bower). The Jack of the same color as trump is second highest (the left bower), and it counts as part of the trump suit. Example with spades as trump: Jack of Spades (right bower), Jack of Clubs (left bower), then Ace, King, Queen of Spades, and so on.
Dealing & Bidding:
• Each player gets 5 cards. The remaining 4 are placed face-down, with the top card turned face-up to suggest trump.
• Bidding goes clockwise. Say "pick it up" to accept the up-card as trump (the dealer adds it and discards one), or "pass" to decline.
• If everyone passes, a second round lets players name any other suit as trump.
• The team that names trump are the Makers, and the other team are the Defenders.
• Stick the dealer: if all pass again, the dealer must choose a trump suit to keep the game moving.
• The Makers must win at least 3 tricks to score.
Going Alone:
• The player who declares trump can go alone, playing without their partner.
• Winning all 5 tricks alone is worth 4 points; winning 3 or 4 tricks alone is worth 1 point.
• The player to the left of the loner leads the first trick.
Gameplay:
• Each round is 5 tricks, and players play one card per trick.
• The first card played sets the lead suit. Players must follow suit if they can; otherwise they may play a trump.
• The highest card of the lead suit wins the trick, unless a trump is played, in which case the highest trump wins. The winner of a trick leads the next one.
Scoring:
• Makers winning 3 or 4 tricks earn 1 point; winning all 5 earns 2 points.
• Going alone, all 5 tricks earns 4 points and 3 or 4 tricks earns 1 point.
• Defenders earn 2 points if the Makers are euchred (win fewer than 3 tricks).
• The first team to reach 10 points wins the game.
